Dedicated to open water swimming in Flathead Lake in northwest Montana

Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi; slightly larger than Lake Tahoe at 27.3 mi. long, 15.5 mi. wide, and maximum depth of 370.7 ft..  As one of the cleanest in the world, Flathead Lake is perfect for OPEN WATER SWIMMING!

Flathead Lake Marine Trail

Click on the map to the left to learn about the Flathead Lake Marine Trail System.  During the summer of 2014, look for details about swims along the coastline.  There are also "virtual" circumnavigation swims (pool) around the state including Mission Valley Aquatic Center in Polson.  If you are interested in participating in a REAL circumnavigation trip, contact Coach Mark Johnston at Coach@LakeMonsters.net.

Lakeside Lighthouse Loop

(Saturday, July 12th)

Flathead Lake, the largest natural fresh water lake west of the Mississippi, was the setting for the inaugural Lakeside Lighthouse Loop, and 25 swimmers from three countries (US, Canada, and Belgium) swam in either the 1.4-mile Loop or the 2.4-mile Ironman Loop.

Polson Bay's Water Daze
